So, it’s the best iPhone you can buy right now, but Apple is already making plans for new iPhone 16 Pro models. More and more leaks and stories are pointing out what changes could be coming this fall. We’ve compiled what we know about the iPhone 16 Pro line below.
Design And Display
Apple changes the iPhone’s style significantly about every three years. Since the iPhone 15 Pro models only had a titanium frame with round sides, we don’t think the iPhone 16 Pro will use a different material or have a distinct shape. The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will have an Action button, just like the 15 Pro models.
A “Capture” button will be added to the iPhone 16 Pro line. This button will be used to take pictures or movies. The Information says that this button will not be sensitive but mechanical. The “Capture” button will still detect pressure and touch, so users can still use it to control things like digital and optical zoom without looking at the screen.
If this story is true, the “Capture” button will do two things. First, it will add another feature that sets the Pro-series iPhones apart from the normal models. Second, it will make the iPhone even better for taking pictures for work. On the iPhone 15 Pro Max, this button will be near the mmWave hole. On the iPhone 16 Pro, it will have to be moved to the left side of the phone.
The big difference might be in how big it is. The iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max have screens that are 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches, respectively. However, the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max may have screens that are 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively. The OLED screens also use micro-lens technology, which makes them brighter and uses less power. Sources told The Elec that makers want to add micro-lens technology to the OLED display screens of the iPhone 16 Pro, but Apple still needs to give the go-ahead.
Even though there have yet to be any solid reports about the finishes, we hope Apple adds more bright colors. For the most part, Pro devices stick to darker, duller colors, but the Sierra Blue iPhone 13 Pro is one example of an exception. There are two similar dark shades and two bright shades on the 2023 Pro models, but none of the finishes on the iPhone 15 Pro have a bright shade that stands out. Titanium Blue is cool, but only in certain lighting situations.
Cameras
Regarding cameras, the ultrawide lens can be boosted from 12MP to 48MP. This change was first made to the primary lens when the iPhone 14 Pro came out. The smaller iPhone 16 Pro may only get the same 77mm tetraprism lens as the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
This would allow people with the smaller iPhone 16 Pro to use 25x digital and 5x visual zoom. The iPhone 16 Pro Max might have a 300mm super-telephoto lens that lets users zoom in more than five times optically or 25 times digitally.
Only one source has said that this 300mm zoom periscope lens will be made, so it’s still being determined. All of this would be great, but what we want from the iPhone 16 Pro camera is a Pro mode with manual settings to use the more powerful sensors. Some third-party apps can do this, but the main one could be more useful these days.
Nothing can be done with it now besides shooting in RAW and changing the brightness. While the iPhone’s camera isn’t perfect, it is one of the best for taking video. That being said, Apple could still do more by being more creative with its products’ software.
Performance
The iPhone 15 Pro versions have the A17 Pro chip, so the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will have the A18 Pro chip. We still need to find out how powerful or power-efficient it will be, but it will undoubtedly be made using the 3nm process.
In addition, if the whispers are true, it might only work with iOS 18 AI features. If not, we expect the iPhone 16 Pro models to have a better connection reports say they will support Wi-Fi 7. The AI is a given, but a mode like Samsung’s DeX would be a nice treat.
The latest A17 Pro can run some AAA games, but iOS and the phone’s screen size limit how well these chips work. Having good support for external displays opens up an interface like iPadOS. This would let you use Stage Manager, make app screens resizable, and make switching between apps on your iPhone easier.
Battery
Regarding power, the iPhone 16 Pro models are said to have stacked batteries, which could make them last longer and hold more power. Users may also use faster 40W cable charging and 20W MagSafe charging, increasing from 20W and 15W, respectively. Apple could also update the old copper-based cooling system with a new one made of graphene to keep things from getting too hot.
Even though there aren’t any new reports about it, we still hope that backward wireless charging will work. With the 2023 models, Apple enabled smaller devices and tools to charge wirelessly from the wall. Wireless charging would make charging your AirPods even easier while you’re on the go. Many people don’t carry around cords, and being able to charge wirelessly from the back would make it easier to charge in a situation.
Conclusion
Because the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max won’t be out for months, there’s still time for more stories to appear. This means the information we’ve already provided may need to be corrected. No matter what, the following big Apple phones will at least have some good changes, like a new “Capture” button, more giant screens, better Wi-Fi connection, a sharper ultrawide lens, more advanced AI features, and more. Undoubtedly, the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are still the best smartphones from Apple right now. You should get one if you can’t wait until September.
